I don't have much in the way of leadership roles. I play two sports, debate, do other activities, and have decent scores, but I'm not the captain of anything. I was wondering if this would considerably hurt my chances of acceptance at top schools.

Colleges like leadership, but what they want to see more is that you participated in your clubs and have been active and productive members.
Let's say you were elected VP of your class, but you don't talk about it at all in your application. The AdComs would definitely know that it was just an elected position and you didn't take it seriously.
