I'm international and can ask any of my teachers for recommendations. My headmistress (principal) does the guidance counsellor part but I'm not sure who to ask for one of the two teacher recs.

I am definitely going to ask my economics teacher for one because I scored very high for my AS-level and I think he'd do a good one.

However, he has only taught me for a year so I don't think it would be a good idea for me to ask another teacher who has only taught me for one year (ie, all of my maths and politics teachers).
That leaves only one other subject: art. All of the teachers have taught me for years however, don't American colleges count art as an 'easy' subject and not respect a rec from an art teacher as much as a proper academic subect.

Therefore, i am left with another idea. I think that my religious studies teacher who knows me really well and would write me a very good rec would be a good idea. He taught me 6th to 10th grade but hasn't since. Would this matter?

Who do you think would be the best teacher to ask for my 2nd rec?

art is definately not an easy subject, not in my school at least

Im going with one English teacher and one Physics or Maths Teacher(not decided). All three of them have known me since April 2002(I joined my present school in April last year).

Would they mind a rec from someone who won't be teaching me for my last two years in school?

Emma--some schools say it must be a teacher you've had junior or senior year... just check your schools' requirements

Can I get one from my epistemology teacher, an English teacher and my debate coach? Or do I have to get a math/science one? I'm just worried that those will be dull and speak nothing about me...
