I'm writing a paper for my senior Advanced Composition class on involvment in the arts and thier relevance in the college admission process. Some think it's very important while others believe that it carries no value. I'm interested to get viewpoints!! Thanks!

It depends on the student, Lindsey. Certainly arts involvement can be beneficial to students, including those who aren't intended arts majors. Colleges like to see students with more than a single interest, so a student with strong math/science scores who was an accomplished visual artist might be more attractive to a college.

I think the college admissions process is a fairly narrow focus - involvement in the arts can have a beneficial effect overall, IMO, not just in the short term but the long term as well.
