Hi, i'm a sophomore at an international school in Hong Kong.
What exactly goes on your transcript? is it just one end-of-year grade for each subject every year of high school or do mid-term grades count too? Does it include a description of how difficult each subject is? To put an EC on a transcript, do you need to produce evidence (i.e enclosing all certificates/awards)?
I know this is a lot to answer, but this forum's been a great source of information : ) and any input at all is appreciated.

Usually, it's end of term grades since those are the ones that go into your GPA computation. Individual schools may vary their presentation, of course. No difficulty description is included, however, a course might be designated as "Honors" or "Advanced Placement", for example. In schools with weighted grades, the "difficult" classes will show the different scale.
Extracurriculars usually don't go on the transcript at all. You can include them on the application forms and, if you wish, a separate summary sheet or resume. No proof of these activities is required under normal circumstances, although I wouldn't recommend being untruthful. A falsely reported EC might be discovered later, perhaps in a communication with the high school or even after you had been in college; providing false information on the application could result in dismissal from school, even after several years.

Everything Dadster has said is absolutely right. I just want to add that if you are very good at EC and have awards, do send copy of them. It never harms. If you are in HK, then English is probably your first language. But if not, remember to translate ur transcript.

thanks, dadster, that helps a lot!
I've asked around at school, and actually..they don't calculate GPA at all here. So. hehe.
What do you think of a bilingual diploma? Will that distinguish me from other applicants in a pool?
Musketeer - will you look at that! I've heard far too many "do they eat dogs there?", "wow! you have a computer", and "HK? But...but...your english..is good!" so it's nice to find someone who has a vague idea of this part of Asia.

Ah ha! Believe this or not, they ask me do they eat dogs in Vietnam also! Where do they get that kind of stereotypes??? Well, I understand how you feel, since I am an international student also. By the way, HK is so beautiful, man! Best luck with colleges (do you plan to go to US for that?)
