Is it tacky to send a letter of recommendation from a very-involved alumnus who has known you all your life and adores you, even though the application only calls for one teacher recommendation? It would be a sincere recommendation, but I don't want anything to appear gimmicky.
(Although we have discussed the possibility of this person temporarily adopting me for the legacy angle! HA HA)

If the letter has value and substance and isn't just "oh, this girl is sooo wonderful! she's the best student for the school!!!", it'll be good for you.
