i am planning on study music and am having trouble finding schools which are known as being good schools that also have good music programs/music schools....could anyone give me some schools to look at? keep in mind i don't want to go to a solely music school, i'd like to go to a good college with a solid music program or music school within the college. thanks!

Stetson University in Florida. It has good academics (a lot of rich kids go there) and an excellent music program. University of Central Florida is a pretty good school for the slightly average/above average student. Good music department and good educational courses. Both have excellent music programs. Stetson is a bit pricey (for the kind it is, nothing like HYP or anything). I believe it is a private college.

if you are going for straight music, Juliard is very good.

Stanford has an excellent music department, thought it's difficult to get into (although probably not as hard as Juliard from what I've hear)

Juilliard is also as selective as an Ivy League school. Damn near impossible to get in....theres always that kid in Beijing that'll take your spot. There are usually only 2-5spots a year for certain instruments.

Actually, Stanford has a very weak music department compared to most other ivies and top LAC's. Many people have complained about its music department.

Eastman is excellent. it is a school in Univ of Rochester
