Does anyone know what would be considered excelling in a unique field? My GPA and SATs scores are decent, but not securely impressive. However, I've placed 2nd at Nationals for composing music. Would this count as excelling?

How about hobbies like origami and knitting [sounds weird, but true!!!, though discontinued for a while... will make a very very different essay topic]
