I am just wondering: Would being poor help you in admissions to they Ivy League and elites? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You bet. With many Ivys it is an advantage to be very poor or very rich. In the middle, not so good.

Depends on how "poor" you look on paper. If your parents own their home, the school isn't going to be convinced that you are that broke. Two parent households with only one parent working don't look so hot either.

Thanks. I was just wondering because on NBC last night apparently the University of Michigan gives 20 "points" to poor people, as well as giving 20 "points" to minorities (they have a point admission system)

But they don't give 40 points to poor minorities. How strange :)
