Has anyone heard?
By phone or mail?

Cornell has been sending out a bunch of "we can't take you this year but you are guaranteed transfer next year". I got one for CALS - Biometry and Statistics!

lol,

I applied to College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and I selected that option...

When did you get the letter?

By Cruelfate (Cruelfate) on Wednesday, June 04, 2003 - 08:19 pm: Edit

Biometry and Statistics too? interesting... the letter was dated may 19th and I have until the 18th of June to make up my mind - it's non-binding though. If you have any other questions, you know what to do....
Good luck...

did you get waitlisted, or denied first?

By Cruelfate (Cruelfate) on Wednesday, June 04, 2003 - 09:07 pm: Edit

Waitlisted... I am out of state (FL) and I applied very late. That was a mistake since admission is on a rolling basis. I think that's why I was waitlisted but I could be wrong. In any case, I'm going to Emory for a year and then we'll see about Cornell.

hmm, so people hav been getting the letters lately or back in mid-may only???

By Cruelfate (Cruelfate) on Wednesday, June 04, 2003 - 09:20 pm: Edit

Well... I was the first I knew of to get the letter. Then someone on this message board claimed to get one. Finally, someone at Emory claims that someone at his school got one. So far, I am the only one I know about who got the letter from CALS - I think the others are CAS. Mine came several days after the letter was dated - I think it came in like the 22nd or the 23rd - I don't know when the others got theirs. If you haven't gotten the letter yet I would not panic. I don't think Cornell will be accepting anyone else this year due to over enrollment (but I could be wrong and if I am I appologize). However, many school are doing the guarantee transfer option because it is an ingenous answer to the wait list. Perhaps they are sending the letters in batches and then they will see how many reply to each batch. Based on that perhaps they might send out more and more batches. I have my fingers crossed for you!

overenrolled? where did you hear that???

-thank you!

"Cornell, the largest school in the Ivy League, also waitlisted the greatest number of applicants, adding 2,349 to the list. Of that number 1,545 chose to remain on the active list, and none will be taken, said Associate Provost of Admissions Doris Davis."

that blurb came from this link:
http://129.170.144.16/article.php?aid=200305210102

but the link isn't working right now... but that's what it said in the article (which was taken from the Cornell News)
