I take three AP core classes, one honors (science, which I am not great at), and then fill the rest of my schedule with one newspaper/yearbook class, the required gym, and then a lot of music. I absolutely love music and am involved in the most select groups, but I wonder if colleges will look down on this schedule, thinking it not the MOST rigorous curriculum available? Since I could have taken other AP elective classes in place of music?

Just a note, I do not intend to major in music in college. I do plan to continue in it and possibly minor in it, but I plan to major in English or Communciations/Journalism.

I would think that with the possible majors you listed, continuing music study would be viewed as exercising your creative side - a plus. If you are really concerned about it, you might plan to list music as a minor on your applications; it can always change later. (can't believe I said that, but I can see the value of it) The main thing is NEVER make your choices based on how your life will be viewed by others, even the all-important admissions boards. Do what you love and excel at what you do. When you are 46 you'll be really glad you did.

What does it mean when you write "bump?"

i wondered that for a really long time too...when no one responds to a post it starts to "sink" to the bottom of the page, and you can write "bump" as a short message to send it back up to the top of the list of active posts.
thanks for the response...i have no intention of changing my schedule, i just wondered how college admissions might see this.
