I got accepted to Colgate. 1460 SATs. homeschooled. They have the nicest acceptance letters with personal notes! I am going to go to Duke, but they wrote me a nice note wishing me a great four years. It is a great school, but it gets really cold in the winter.
By Yourlocalmayor (Yourlocalmayor) on Monday, May 12, 2003 - 02:05 am: Edit

By Yourlocalmayor (Yourlocalmayor) on Monday, May 12, 2003 - 11:31 pm: Edit
no.
By Ks2882 (Ks2882) on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 - 06:07 pm: Edit
They accept something like 75% of early applicants...
By Kelly_Johnson (Kelly_Johnson) on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 - 09:32 pm: Edit
Hahahaha. No. It is like 54%.
By Vaj (Vaj) on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 - 01:35 am: Edit
is the early application binding?
By Emeraldkity4 (Emeraldkity4) on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 - 02:33 am: Edit
I can't figure that out
They have Early Decision I and Early Decision II
Typically early decision is binding but I don't know the difference between I & II
Probably just different cutoff dates but still earlier than regular admission
By Ks2882 (Ks2882) on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 - 12:51 pm: Edit
Its binding, that I know for sure... Im still conflicted on whether I should chose Oberlin or Colgate- any thoughts?
By Good_Gal (Good_Gal) on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 - 12:58 pm: Edit
I would choose Colgate over Oberlin because Colgate isn't full of activists.
By Kelly_Johnson (Kelly_Johnson) on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 - 06:29 pm: Edit
Yes, they are both binding, and ED II does not help you at all in the admissions process. The same percent of kids that get in RD get in ED II. You have to actually want to commit to Colgate right away to get any benefits over it.
I'm an activist, and I like both schools. Do not let "Good" Gal get to you.
