would being a model..and having your photoshoot published in a magazine help any for admissions?

assuming that the SAT is above 1500.. rank is top 1%..and EC's are credible

i think it would. it does add diversity to the campus and it's not something that every other applicant has done. If you write a good essay about modeling then it will help you out even more.

I don't model, but I do do television commericals. I wrote an essay about this, and I feel that this essay was a key part into getting me accepeted to at least two of my schools, Colgate and UChicago. It is something unique and different, and IMO, it won't always help, but it will never hurt.

I don't know how much modelling is going to help but the admissions committee will definately take notice...especially if your pics are in major publications...it's a good hook and you should be able to write a great essay on it.

On a side note, there was a gal on the cover of Seventeen in my dorm. That was sure nice.

Keep in mind I categorize good looking girls as :cute, hot, or beautiful...shallow I know but who am I to deny my 'maleness'

MIT would accept you hands down...they are looking for non-ugly girls, being pretty at MIT is like being a URM. if u are pretty send in ur picture (not modelling one, just a decent senior pic) w/ur app, it'll help bring ur application to life.
