I just received a letter from Washington University in St. Louis informing me that I have been given a "travel grant" to pay expenses in visiting their campus. I know that athlets often get this sort of treatment, but since I had never heard of it before for non-athletes, I was wondering how rare they are. Does the fact that I was offered one mean that I have a good shot at admission at Washington University - St. Louis?

I've heard of it for URMs. Does that apply to you? In any case, it certainly sounds good to me. Congratulations!
