I recently visited UGA and got some information on the Fellows Foundation- an incredible scholarship that, in conjunction w/ the UGA honors program, gives out free tuition, an $8,000 stipend each year, free spring break trips abroad, and (I think) a total of $18,000 for semester or summer study or work abroad trips. Also special seminars, etc. So, it's pretty spectacular. I was wondering if there were other similar programs like that out there- I know of the Morehead at UNC, but you have to either be a NC resident/ go to a private school for that and I don't qualify for either.

UGA is great!! It is an incredible school with an amazing college town and it is a pretty campus even though their tour isn't that special. I think U. of s.carolina has a similar honors program/scholarship deal.

Sivan: It is possible to be selected for the Morehead program even if you are not a NC resident or a student at one of the schools on their list. If you apply before November and they want to consider you, they will invite you to apply for the program. Worth a shot.

There's also the Robertson Scholarship, where accepted students alternate semesters between Duke and UNC--but get full tuition to both colleges plus extra cash. UNC itself has some other nice scholarships, but nothing more than almost-full tuition ($15,000/yr for out-of-staters).
UVA has a small bevy of nice opportunities; there's the Echols (sp?) and a few others that slip my mind right now.
Arizona State is fairly generous with their money, but I'm not sure how much is earmarked solely for National Merit Finalists. They have an awesome honors college, in any case.
Finally, the University of South Dakota, if I remember correctly, has some lovely scholarship opportunities. Scan through some of Carolyn's posts on here to find out more about them.
