Discus: College Search and Selection: Should I retake the SAT?
By Collegerocks (Collegerocks) on Sunday, October 10, 2004 - 01:24 pm: Edit

my SAT score is a 1040 (HORRIBLE)
and my ACT score is a 22 (ALSO HORRIBLE)

i was wondering:
1. out of the two which one is better?
2. i am thinking about taking the princeton review SAT class for the December test
3. is the December test too late to re-take the SAT?
4. i applied ED to UF, does anyone know when UF notifies an applicant of their admission?

UF is very competitive and unless you are a minority or an athlete I would say your chances are slim with those scores. The 1040 is higher than the 22 but still too low. You should consider retaking it in November to up your score. I think the Early decision applicants are notified in November which means it is already too late for you to up your score for Early decision. I suggest retaking and applying to some safties. You might have a shot at FSU if you are in state and have a decent GPA.

i'm hispanic, so do you think my chances are higher? b/c i know 12% of their students are hispanic so i think it's pretty competitive even for minorities. i'm also applying to FSU and i have a couple of safeties.
