I need some safeties. I'm applying ED II to Bryn Mawr. But I'm also interested in Vassar, Haverford, and Smith.

I'm interested in art history.

I can pretty much guarantee glowing recommendations and good essays. Also, my mom (single parent) only makes about $28,000 a year.

Why ED II? Don't you want to compare financial aid offers? Even if offered the same "amount" at each school, they can vary quite widely in the amount of loans, expected workstudy, required summer earnings, budgetted travel, etc., even when the totals are the same (and they often are not the same.)

To give you a real example: with the same EFC, the offers received by my d., from comparable institutions to which you are applying, ranged by as much as $12k a year ($48k over four years), with loan amounts from $0 to $17.9k, with workstudy options ranging from washing dishes at $7/hr to a paid research assistantship in the first two years, from an expectation for $3,500 earned each summer to an offer of a paid research internship. All of these were "100% of need schools".

I doubt that you will need any safeties. You have a nice record and will be attractive to all your favorites. That said, it is prudent to have safeties. How about UNC (Morehead Scholar?) What do you want to study?
