They're safeties?

as in 99% chance of getting in provided that I write a good essay?

Georgia Tech is not a safety if you are not from Georgia. Purdue would be though.

What about bucknell, lehigh, or villanova? If you hurry you can still fill out the villanova app by nov 1st and be considered for presidential scholarship..which is a full ride. (1400 sat required and either top 5 or 10% of class)

University of Illinois (it's always in the top 10, too)

What kind of engineering are you interested in? If you're wanting a particular field, be sure to investigate what each school offers because not all engineering programs offer every kind of engineering. For example, biomed engineering isn't offered everywhere, while electrical engineering is more commonly offered.

Actually, unless you provide more info -- like GPA, class rank, state of residence, what your SAT score really is, and intended major -- it is really not possible to name some safeties.

top 40% of 313
GPA has not been released. It is pretty much 0.8~1 point less than maximum GPA possible, weighted.
NJ
610 verbal

major is really undecided. when I feel I know more about engineering, I'll decide for sure. For now, I wrote down EE tho. Possible majors:

aero (astronomy interests me altho I have not taken any classes)
mech (building things)
elec (baby programmer)

OK, then that makes GT and VT reaches.

How about Rutgers? Rutgers might not be a true safety but probably close enough since you're an in-state resident.

By Energy1 (Energy1) on Thursday, October 07, 2004 - 06:14 pm: Edit

Penn State?

Rutgers, I'm not sure if I wanna go there if I get rejected from all others. It also has rolling admissions.

What's wrong with Rutgers...
its a very solid school, and since you are in-state,
you really should apply...

By Ivysearch (Ivysearch) on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 05:30 pm: Edit

I heard that at Rutgers students often have to take classes on more than one campus. In my opinion, this is a big negative.

By Energy1 (Energy1) on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 08:18 pm: Edit

Rutgers has never attracted me. That's all. I want to keep my number of college apps as low as possibly so that I can emphasize quality over quantity. To do this, I have to limit my choices to one safety school, 4 match schools, and 3 reach schools.

I'm having a hard time picking my safety. Are there any sites with unbiased statistics? Obviously, I cannot visit every college that I might consider. I have to make a decision from conjectures and research.

Good engineering program+ 99% admission chance + good campus.

Purdue 100% admission, known for engineering.
