...well, I'm not sure. My friend wants to be a police officer or possibly even an FBI agent. What major should she take and what are good schools for this? She's a good student at a public school -- which means above average test scores and great grades -- but doesn't have crazy test scores (1600/800/800/800) like lots of the people on the board. Her SAT is about 1250-1350. (She took the ACT).

Another thing that's quirky: she is also really interested in photography. So if the school had some crossover in both criminal justice and photography classes available, that'd be awesome.

Thanks! :-)

There are many schools with criminal justice programs. Help us narrow it down: What size school does she want? What part of the country? What is her GPA like? Does she need financial aid? What else is she looking for?

Check out Northeastern and the University of Maryland.

Part of the country: Makes no difference.
GPA: 3.8 u/w
Financial Aid: well, it's my understanding that just about everyone needs some form of aid nowadays. I don't know her family's income -- I'd say middle middle class.
School size: She says she doesn't care. *I* think she'd do well with more personal, smaller classes.
Others: She really doesn't know. She's a very vivacious person and fun to be around, does school well but isn't a complete study freak. (Read: She'd never spend Friday night studying.) She has horses and adores them, and rides often, but also enjoys doing "cityish" things like partying, going to concerts, dancing and (*when she's legal ;-) *) clubbing.

Does that help you any?

Don't know about particular colleges, but I just talked to someone whose son is preparing for a career in the FBI - college soph. Taking the advice of a friend who is an FBI agent and does some recruiting for the gov't, this young man is majoring in accounting?! One of the most sought after backgrounds for future FBI agents, according to this 3rd hand source. He goes, I think to a large state university.
