I know Michigan is ranked ahead of CMU in nearly every field. But i suspect that its due to the difference in the size of the programs and departments. Michigan engineering is about 5 times the size of CMU engineering. and also, i think most of michigan's name recognition comes from its grad, med, and law schools. I really want to attend a school with an emphasis on undergraduate education and i plan to double major in mechanical engineering w/ biomedical engineering
PLease confirm my evaluations, and comment on the quality of undergraduate engineering education in michigan and carnegie mellon!!! thanx

Depends on your major. For electrical, I'd go CMU. For anything else - Michigan.
You'll come out fine either way.
