Wondering if someone could provide some guidance/insight on this one. I plan to pursue a career in broadcast journalism, and have been accepted to both the master's programs at Syracuse and Ohio U. OU has given me a full ride, while I am still awaiting to hear back from Syracuse on possible financial awards. Syracuse is certainly my first preference due to factors such as shorter program length, practical training, alumni connection, etc., yet the financial ramifications in this decision are important for me as I am your typical middle class college kid short on the green. Certainly, I don't expect a full ride from SU, but I'm wondering about how much in loans is too much considering the offer I have from OU and that SU would be over 20k w/ no help. Someone who is familiar with both programs and who can provide an unbiased analysis of long-term benefits vs. long-term financial impact would be appreciated. Obviously, if I get the financial award I'm looking for from the Cuse (1/2 to 3/4) this is a moot issue as I will go to SU. But, I'm just going on what I have at the moment. I'll try to provide an update when I can.

I graduated from Newhouse at Syracuse and can honestly say that it has made a huge difference in my career (I'm a business journalist). The school gave me terrific skills and has a wonderful program. The list of alumni who are now in top communications positions is amazing. You really can't go wrong there if you're interested in any communications field. If you can swing it financially, go for it.
