how important are first semester grades your senior year? im assuming theyre pretty important, but the senioritis in me is really hoping i can slack off. my gpa unweighted right now is as follows-
freshman-3.6
sophmore-3.9
junior-3.9
cumulative-3.8
so do i need to keep it up there?
and if my school ends first semester before winter break, as in dec.15 or something like that, will my RD colleges get my first semester grades?

It depends on where you are applying. The top colleges often ask for a mid-year report (ie. first semester grades) and an analysis of "changes" by the guidance counselor. That also doesn't mean that one can then slack-off the second semester - many colleges reserve the right to reject acceptance for students who's grades have dropped.
