Reed and Pomona?

recently,someone told me about reed and pomona and said that they were really good colleges...
can any one tell me more about how good these colleges are and what their strengths OR weaknesses are?

I wanted to respond although I don't know a lot about Pomona other than my naturopath went there, and it is part of the consortium of the Claremont colleges.
One of the most academic and competitive along with Harvey Mudd, I would put it up there with Amherst and Swarthmore.

Reed is also an academic school, but not as prestigous, partly I am assuming because of the presidents refusal to furnish info to US News, and partly becuase of its " druggie" reputation which is a little outdated.
also since it is on the West coast it does tend to get east coast students who love it, but still wish they were accepted to Columbia.
My daughter is a sophomore at Reed and loves it
The weakness of Reed in my mind is that it is not very diverse culturally. Many kids on finaid, but not a lot of color
That said, if you are of color, and have need, you probably will get great fin aid
