I really can't figure out which one I'd prefer to go to more. I was accepted to both. I live in the L.A. area, so LA is close to home...but SD really appeals to me too. Anyone have any advice on which school to pick? I'm planning on majoring in Bio and going premed. Any ideas on which school is better in that area, and which school would get me into a better med school?

UCLA has superlative genetics and neuroscience programs.

UCSD is a fine overall school and gets you away from home, a notion I endorse, and its bio departments has a very good reputation.

I don't think you can go wrong in that there are many more factors that will determine what med school you get into than a comparison between these particular two schools.

Well if you go to UCLA you cannot go to UCLA med, and if you go to UCSD you cannot go to UCSD med . .so take your pick, but if you dont think you will get into either of those med schools then dont worry about it. Oh I know I have a biased opinion, but a degree from UCLA looks 100x better than a degree from UCSD, also, I have many friends who went to UCSD and left because they didn't like it.

That's not true. UCLA and UCSD doesnt care what undergrad u are. UCLA and UCSD students both have same chance of getting into either LA or SD med school. Refer to data below. But of course, Harvard undergrad woulh have a better chance getting into med school
