One of my closest friends has a huge decision to make, and asked for my guidance. Given that I am a college dropout, I'm not sure I'm the best person to give advice...so here goes.

She has been offered admission to both Wellesley and Berkeley. Both promise to fully meet her need...which is quite great. I think what helped her was a lot of ECs, being a Cali resident for Berkeley, and great recommendations.

She does not know much about what she wants to study. She considers Wellesley and Berkeley both very top schools. She likes writing, activism, and is left wing all the way. She also does not care about partying.

What would you do?

I got into UCB too, so I might be a little biased, but I think she should go to Berkeley b.c. it is more prestigious, more diverse, has nicer weather, probably has more oppurtunity, is more fun (I know either one can be fun depending on your friend and she could have fun at any state University, but you know what I mean), better location and well. . .men (which is an important part of diversity). Wellesley is a quiet suburb of Boston while Berkeley is a vibrant university town right next to San Francisco. That's my 2 cents. It also depends on her major and how good the respective departments are.
