San Jose State University and Dominguez Hills both have 5 yr. therapy programs which my D is researching. Their website and applications don't seem like they encourage out of staters. There was a spot on registration where you put in high school name and they only had Calif schools and no way to type in other high schools. There also was not a listing for tuition for non-residents, just more then in state. Is it possible to get into these small programs-there is only 40 accepted in their 5yr bachelors/masters therapy program. Do they mainly give spots to in-state, which is understandable. I'm also assuming there would not be aid for non-residents? Any info on the schools in general and their policy would be helpful.

I don't know anything about San Jose State but I grew up in Carson not far from Dominguez Hills. Back then and I think it still is today a commuter school. In general it is one of the least selective of the Cal States. Though probably with such a small program they would have higher stats for acceptance then the rest of the school. Which might be why they located it there. The people I knew who went to school there mainly became teachers.
Carson is not a place that most people would love to live. Most consider themselves lucky it they can move away and not ever have to come back. I wouldn't go as far as to call it a bad neighborhood but I would definitely suggest a visit.
Though the weather is good as you don't get the extreme heat as some other parts of LA. It is also located near two different freeways that can take you anywhere you want to go.
I think your best bet would be to call the school and try to reach someone in the therapy department.
I don't know if Long Beach State has a OT program. I think it is a bit better regarded.
My sister in law is a PT and went to Univ. of Puget Sound and has friends who are OT so I think they might have a program.
Assuming by your name I would assume you live in Arizona. What do you think of Northern Arizona Univ. My D is possibly interested in Hotel Management and I see they have a program.

Sounds like we will scratch Dominguez off the list! Doesn't sound like what she is looking for! NAU is the smallest of the state schools so students get a lot of personal attention. Most love Flagstaff. It has lots of opportunities for research and working closely with profesors-more of a small liberal arts feel then a state university. I don't know much about her program sorry. Friends that have children there love it.The U of A is ranked higher but it is easy for kids to get lost there and it can be difficult to get the classes you need to graduate in 4 yrs. That is not the case at nau.My D would love to go to Puget Sound but theirs is a masters program unfortunatly so it adds 1 1/2 yrs. There are not a lot of 5 yr programs out there and most are not schools she would normally look at. Thanks for the info on Dominguez, it helps. Does anyone else know anything about San Jose State?
