Do I stand have a chance at being accepted to Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, Illinois-Urbana Champaign, Michigan-Ann Arbor,UNC, or Berkeley (I don't live in CA)? Also if you know of any other universities that I might fit in with please let me know. I am planning on pursuing engineering.
SAT: 1380 (730M 650V) Will try to make it 1400 when I take it in Oct/ or Nov
SAT II:
1.) Math IIC: 660 (will take again in OCT)
2.) Chemistry: 690 (might take again)
3.) Writing: 600 (definetly will take again in OCT, right now I am averaging 660-670 range on practice tests)
GPA: about 3.85 (I got a 4.1 GPA last year and a 4.0 year after that)(out of about 450 students, I'm in top 10%)
APs:
1.) Chemistry: haven't recieved score yet, but prob. 4 or 5
2.) Calc I: technically, not an AP class, but we do recieve 5 hours of collge credit for it (it's one of those tests where you have to get above the cut-off score, which I did)
3.) Calc II: Same as Calc I, but will be taking next year (1st Semester)
4.) Calc III: Same, next year (2nd Semester)
5.) Physics: Taking next Year
6.) Art: Taking next Year
ECs:
1.) Participated in School's Scholar's Bowl team
2.) Participatd in National Science Knowledge Bowl 2003 & 2004 and probably this year too.
3.) Volunteered at the Local Hospital over the summer (30+ hours)
4.) I am doing an internship at the Information & Technology Center (Engineering department) at nearby university to get a feel for the Engineering field (which I am planning to major in)
5.) I am also involved in some clubs at school.
Awards:
1.) Presidential Award for Excellence
2.) National Honor's Society Member
3.) 8th Place in Nat'l Science Knowledge Bowl 2003 (out of 60 or so teams)
4.) 5th Place in Math Counts Competition (out of 15 or so teams)
5.) School Award for Perfect Attendence (all three high school years)
6.) Kansas Honor's Society (for being in top 10%)
Please take into account that I will be applying to CMU for Early Decision to maximize my chance of being admitted. Please rank these colleges as Safety, Matches, Reaches. Thanks!

since you're not from CA, berkeley would be a reach.
if you want a fun state school for engineering, try maryland.

Stelik...
Michigan would be possible, as it has rolling admissions. The earlier you send in the app, the better your chances. UI-UC, you have a good chance at too. GT is usually more concerned with Math scores, so I would try and get the scores up--although, to a certain extent, that's true of the other schools as well. UNC is less predictable (only have 18% outof state by mandate), so your best chance there would be to ED.
Check out:
Purdue
Ohio State
U of Washington
Oregon State
U of Texas
small NLACs:
Swartmore (a bit more difficult to get into)
Trinity
Lafayette
Lehigh
--lots of others as well.
