I wanna know what colleges will be good for me (matches, reaches, safeties)
I'm pretty interested in medical engineering and engineering design, pre-med, bioengineering
GPA : 4.3 weighted (4.0 unweighted)
ACT : 27
SAT : 1350 (V 550 M 800) i think i can get about 1400 next time
SAT 2 : math2c 800 chem 760 writing 610
ECs : Painting n drawing, band, excellence in science and math (1% in school), math competition
The problem is that i didn't do any ECs and my verbal score is so low. but i hav okay gpa and take 7 ap classes (include senior year) and 2 honor classes.
I am ok with any privates and uc schools.
i prefer suburban like NY, boston, LA
and i dun kno what i should do during this summer. i'll be senior but i dun hav any ECs to do. what will be good for me??

Here's a few off the top of my head:
Worcester Polytechnical Institute (hour outside Boston, in same city as Holy Cross College)
Illinois Institute of Technology (downtown Chicago)
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, N.Y.)
U.C. Santa Barbara engineering is on the rise...

Thanx guys~!! do u think i can get into uc berkeley. (in-state). Getting into Berkeley is like a dream here actually. T.T hm..
but i heard that it is hard to get good gpa at all uc schools..
this is why i am pretty interested in private schools.
which private engineering focusing school will match to me?? Washington??? (do they hav good bioengineering program??)
isn't UCSD bioengineering program difficult to get in?? UCSD has 3rd highest medical enginnering program in U.S.

Smith -- they are recruiting female engineering students and offer substantial merit aid to some of them. (If you are really into drawing/painting, their fine arts are top-notch.)

You could much better the NEU which is a tier 3 school. Alan has hyped NEU on every post.Check out Profs degrees , peer assessment, grad rates etc. Just not very good.It is used as a safety school, that is why they are deep into their waitlist.

LOL! You sound like a broken record Lenk. Everone knows that NEU is a tier II school with a top sixty engineering program (ranked at the level as Tufts).

Alan show me right now where NEU is ranked a Tier 2 school. Please show me. US NEWS says tier3.

Yeah deifnately try Cornell and all the big schools. If english is not your native language it helps alot explaining it but if it is the verbal score is gonna kill you. I woudl advise to read 3 big books (Crime & Punishment... and the like) and sutdy word lists. You get that V above 650 and you are set..even though a 600 would have you sittign pretty.

Lenk what year are you in at Villanova?

I feel like i should read more books.^^
actually i'm u.s. citizen but eng is not my first language.
i've been here since sophomore year and i m gonna be senior.
this why my writing and verbal score is so low.
anyway, thanx for all helps from you guys.
i kind of decide where to apply.
X : cal-berkely, stanford, princeton
reaches : cornell, michigan ann arbor,
matches : UCSD, USC, Boston U, Tufts
safeties : washington-seattle, UCSB
hm. how do you think about my lists?
and what is all about the NEU?? where is it?
i definitely wanna go Cornell. i'll do my best to raise my verbal score.^^

Harvey Mudd is a great California school you should consider. They are trying to achieve gender balance and they are in the Great Claremont Consortium.
