What do you guys know about this summer program? Worth the $1800? Sounds like a neat thing to do over the summer.

I have a friend who did it, and I think she really liked it. I didn't ask her too much about it though. But she's going to Columbia next year, so obviously it doesn't look too bad on applications either.

There were some very positive things written by posters to the Princeton Review forum about Rose-Hulman generally and Operation Catapult specifically.
I was trying to talk my HS junior son into it, but he's going to be doing an 3-week engineering internship at the begining of the summer and wants to stay at home and get a job for the rest of his vacation

I'm a counselor this summer for catapult, so If you end up going, I'll be the one running and getting you supplies and stuff (I'm also in charge of songs, but you'll find out about that).
The $1800 covers you supplies for the project, room, board, and pays me and the other 10 counselors so we afford not to have a real job this summer (Thanks!).
It is tons of fun, and you'll meet about 100 other guys and gals, including 11 of the coolest people on earth (I mean the counselors, of course). There are also a few fun trips to go caving, six flags, ect. To top it off, you get to make something cool (it doesn't have to be a catapult) and it looks sweet on your college applications (especially if you want to go to Rose).

i went to operation catapult this past summer, and the counselor who just wrote above was one of my counselors. it's worth it! it definately made me want to be an engineer, and it was so much fun! you actually get to work with college professors on the projects, you do Intermural sports in the afternoons, go on trips, pull pranks on people, it's awesome!
