Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows about some great colleges on the eastern shore that are well known for their environemtnal studies/engineering programs. I wouldn't mind colleges on the west, but I'm looking for those really on the eastern shore. THANKS!

I have rankings for ecology, oceanography, and geosciences, so I'm not sure which field you're looking to study when you say "environmental studies"

Whitman College in Washington state has an incredible Environmental studies program. Pretty selective however.
Here are some less selective ones with decent ES programs: Allegheny (PA), Clark (MA), Denison (Ohio), Dickinson (PA), Earlham (Indiana), Eckerd (FL), Hawaii Pacific, Juniata (PA), Lynchburg (VA), Michigan State,U of New Hampshire, Pitzer (CA), PRescott (Arizona), Randloph-Macon (VA), Rennselaer Polytech (NY), SUNY Plattsburg, Ripon (Wisc), Lake Forest College (IL), Southwestern U (Texas), Susquehanna (PA), Valparaiso (Indiana),
University of Vermont, Warren Wilson (NC), McDaniel College (MAryland), Worcester Polytech (MA), U of Colorado-Boulder

Also, try: UCSC, UCSB, UCRiverside, UCDavis, University of Idaho, Oregon State, and the University of Washington on the west coast. The University of Redlands in Calif. has a decent ES program as well, according to someone I know who attends.

Environmental Studies/Engineering
How about just doing environmental engineering? That's a great and useful field!

Duke has a really good Environmental Studies program, in fact they have both Environmental Sciences and Environmental Sciences Policy majors. Plus it has its own like 8000 acre forest. They also have undergrad engineering. The only downside is it's pretty hard to get in, but it's worth a look.

Check out the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. They have programs in engineering, chemistry, and biology that are oriented towards the environment, and programs in environmental science and environmental studies (policy). They are not well-known, but US News and World Reports rates them quite high!
