I don't know much about the university, but I have heard it's not very good. I heard the people there aren't very smart, the professors aren't very good, and it's not that prestigious of a school. According to that, I would look for a better school, but maybe I am wrong.

FIT isn't among the top 120 undergaduate engineering programs listed by U.S. News.
It is, however, very near Cape Canaveral, and therefore of interests to someone who wants to work for NASA but doesn't have particularly good grades or test scores.
It's very near the beach, and has a more laid-back atmosphere than other tech schools. If that appeals, and the scholarship money is right, that might provide some motivation to go there.

Isn't their sports cheer "FIT, FIT, FIT!"?

Correction to my previous post:
The U.S. News list I was looking at was for undergrad programs at universities that offer a doctorable degree. FIT may be on the list of non-doctoral institutions, but I don't have that list.

Timepass, I would definitely go to IIT. I think it's a much better school.

I've been attending this school for a semester and a half now, and I can vouch that it's not an easy school to get by in. I graduated with honors from my high school, and was in national honors society. I'm now in the engineering program here at FIT (computer engineering), and could honestly say I've actually had to do some serious work to get by in some of my classes. All professors are masters in their field, though occaisonally some are bad at conveying knowledge... hence you have to do a lot of work.
If the job field worries you, I've already seen job and internship offers with Microsoft, NASA, Northrop Grumman, and Harris. In my first semester here, I received a job opportunity testing and fixing autopilot systems in aircraft embedded systems. One of the alumnists in my fraternity is a senior engineer at NASA, who oversees multi-million dollar projects.
In total, you have to be bright to last here, and you have to do tons of work. In return, the job opportunities are ample - good for the future driven. If anyone wants to contact me with questions about FIT, feel free. jnester AT fit.edu.
