Harvard is the best investment by far..youll make all that money back man.

What a naive statement. If one were to leave Harvard with 160K dollars of debt, he would be hard pressed to pay it off; that is a HUGE financial burden. By NO means does a Harvard degree guarantee a well-paying job, or even a JOB (in this economy), so don't be so quick to assume that a Harvard degree is a ticket to success. However, in the OP's case, if he's only short 2K, then that's not a significant amount of debt at all. If that is the case, go to Harvard.

I think there is so much more to college that the academic experience or career prep. I would suggest that if the financial burden is not too heavy, go to Harvard. Going away to college prepares you as a person, not just for a career. I wouldn't pass on the opportunity.

Good luck whatever you decide!

I think $8000 is negligible considering the amazing education you can receive at Harvard.

You don't have the money? just 2k short....Loans are magical thing....

Didn't apply anywhere else did you? Why didn't you!? Even though in the long run if you go to VCC for two years, tranfer into a UC, you'll be good to go and have much less of financial burden on your hands.

do what that kid at NYU did, don't get any housing and sleep in the library. that should cover the cost :)

If this isn't a joke, go to Harvard. Don't even consider the alternative -- it's a bad idea. A Harvard degree will earn you instant respect in almost any country in the world.

Harvard is definitely worth $8,000 in low-interest debt. By the time you graduate, that will probably be only about a third of what people will borrow routinely for economy cars. It's not much, and you're talking about the most prestigious college in the country. Congratulations on having the option.
