I'm in no way poor. But I'm not rich either. If I really needed to I can find a way to scrounge the money for almost any college I want to go to if I'm accepted. But none the less when you break down the stats between the first tier schools and some just below, its rather frightening. Going into engineering. I've had UT at Austin as a backup for quite a while (10% rule - easy). Been looking at the upper engineering schools in awe. But I'm starting to read and hear that UT at Austin is a great school too. So is it really worth $120,000 to go somewhere like Cornell/CMU/etc as opposed to the like less than $30,000 in-state tuition at UT? Is the education really worth that much more in the long run (or in whatever other regard)?
