A good way to figure out the good and bad things about schools is to go to http://www.epinions.com. Real people (no androids here) write their opinions on subjects. It really helps you see patterns--if every comment is negative or points out one thing, chances are you'll have the same opinion if you go there. I noticed that Carleton and Carnegie Mellon have very few negative comments.

I guess that depends on how you define "real". Even troll messages are written by actual people.

One thing to be aware of, alot of the opinions here are from the year 2000, while that does not make them at all invalid, it just means they're slightly dated. I really wish more college students were aware of sites like epinions and used them to leave their current feelings about their colleges.
