I'm planning on applying to tufts...can anyone provide me with information on their admissions profile etc? What is their emphasis in their search for qualified applicants? Are there presently any alumni surfing this board?
Thanks

A recent Wall Street Journal article listed Tufts as one of a handful of schools with innovative engineering programs. Any one here able to comment?

Maybe they were named because they get to play with LEGOs: http://www.asee.org/precollege/lego-article.cfm

I got into Tufts thru Regular Admission.
Stats: 4.47 weighted GPA in full IB Diploma (including Math, Economics, Physics and English at Higher Level). A Combined SATI score of 1410 (680 V, 730 M) and 700 avg. in SAT IIs (Phys. 780, Math. 740 and Writing 600).. As far as EC's go I am not involved in sports at all. Otherwise I particpated in national MUN as well as a virtual investment club. I am also an international student if that counts..
If you're looking for good engineering schools of similar selectivity I would suggest looking at Northwestern as well as Cornell.. Good Luck

Tufts is a "hot" school now, so good luck. I do know that it is looking to become more national (less dependent on New England, NY, NJ).
It may help if you are from Billings or Maui.
If not, distinguish yourself beyond your grades.

Is Tufts a long shot for me?
H!
My gpa is a 4.25, I got a 670 V & 670 M on my SATs, (I think I'll try to boost my math up yo get to a 1400).
I am very active in my school, in various clubs, i am an executive officer, president of various clubs including the multicultural club, a
peer mentor, Interact club,SAve the Earth club, and many many more.
I do a lot of volunteering at hospitals, child abuse center.. help clean parks, I have a job at a major hospital currently as well.
I play a sport and am on varsity, I tutor children, I got first place in my region and first in my state for Future Business Leaders of
America competition and went to the nationals, I am also in the National Honor Society.
I have been in all honors classes and took one ap class junior year, and will be taking five ap classes next year. I got in the high 600s
in my sat IIs. In additon, I created a community service organization in my school sending goods to less fortunate countries.
I think I can write a great essay w/ excellent recommendations. Could I get into Tufts? Also, what other colleges would you recommend?

QT, I'd say you are competitive but not a lock. Boosting your SAT above 1400 might help - 1410 is the start of the top quartile. Packaging your ECs well will help, too - it sounds like you have a strong record of outside accomplishment and service. Good luck!

What do you think is the lowest gpa someone can have and be admitted to Tufts. I know they say they dont calculate one but really.
What I mean is -- what is probably the avg gpa for admitted tufts students?

I am a sophmore at a high school in Hawaii, but I need help on this anyway. Does any one have any sugestions on how I can seperate myself from the crowd? Thanks in advance.
