for an english major what is better? I know that bu has two nobel prize winners in literature (saul bellow and derek walcott) and an ex-poet laureate (Robert Pinsky) but i really cant tell how bc's english department compares. help me

Academically, BC is more respected. As another advantage, BC has a well-defined campus. You'll get a great education at either school. Ultimately, it comes down to finances, location, and personal preference.

Don't know anything about BC. There's an article in today's Boston Globe about BU and someone posted a link to it on the BU board. It mentions something about outspoken professors in the English dept have led to that dept suffering politically. You might check it out (but my daughter is thrilled to be going to BU next year.)
