Cal Poly SLO is a good school for engineering from what i hear.

I had the same problem as you except mine was Cal Poly SLO vs UCLA. I picked UCLA and its very competitive here. If i can change back time, I would chose Cal Poly SLO for undergraduate and then apply to UCLA or UCSB for graduate school. YOu get the best of both worlds if you get into both schools.
