Does anyone have any good study tips-- especially for English? My GPA is 2.8 UW and 3.3 W, and I *have* to raise it as soon as possible. English is my biggest obstacle-- I don't have any problem with reading comprehension and the likes, it's the writing that brings my score down. Any advice on how I can improve it?

What do you read...for pleasure, that is?

Well, I read the entire "Cave Bear Clan" series, and a lot of books by Patrick O'Brian. I've also read the "North and South" trilogy by John Jakes (out of sheer boredom-- but it was kinda nice, especially the second part). Apart from these, I haven't been reading much.

Actually, the Patrick O'Brian books have pretty good vocabulary and complex sentence structure. fe is right - find some literature you like and dig in! I always thought my kids gained a lot of writing skills from reading Tolkien. Lots of great language there. Seriously, I'm a big believer that the best way to learn writing is constant exposure to great writing. It's not a skill you just pick up from a workbook. Good luck!
