Almost everyone gets the e-mails and brochures, I expect. Last year my sophomore daughter heard from several dozen schools from January-April.
It's begun again this year, with four e-mails in the past three days. As it happens, none are from schools she has any interest in.
But tonight she got a phone call from the head of the local alumni association of a school she _is_ very interested in. She's probably on their radar screen because she's attended the roving admissions presentation at her high school, signed in at the booth at the College Fair, and attended a party for prospects put on by the alumni association. Tonight's call was a very low-key romance: are you planning to visit? Do you have a host lined up for an overnight stay and would you like our help? Have you contacted any of the faculty? Etc.
But now I'm wondering...what sorts of recruiting have juniors/seniors experienced? And, if you know, what sorts of things besides test scores trigger these things?

I had tons and tons of college email, only about 1% from colleges I was remotely interested in. Mail from colleges does NOT mean that your child is going to be accepted there. I have friends who are terrible students and have gotten mail from ivy league schools. Colleges somehow get addresses of a bunch of high school students, and send out mail to all of them.

I understand about the mail, both the degree of interest and the absolutely no indication of
acceptance...that would be silly.
What I'm asking about is any experience with
colleges recruiting (non-athletes) besides
mail/e-mail?
