princeton review says that UF average SAT is now 1340... and its selectivity rating is higher than schools like tulane.
wow! can this be a mistake? how can the go up a 100 SAT points in one year???!?

Here is what the school itself says:

It is possible the "average" is as stated but an average is a mean (which can be easily skewed by having 10% of the students with very high scores) and not a median or its 25% to 75% range(which are more informative figures to look at)

I'd definately believe that average.
Many top-notch Florida students attend UF because it’s free for them. Florida has a program that pays tuition for 4 years at a public Florida college if you have decent grades (3.5 weighted). Obviously the top students qualify for this program, and in addition many Florida colleges offer them free room & board if they’re qualified enough.
I myself am attending on a full-ride with a 1400 SAT and a 4.4 UF GPA, which in Florida’s standards is high, even though it's far from stellar. I think this year they started being extremely selective – I only know of 2 other people who were admitted, out of the 20 or so I know who applied. Many people rejected were equally or more qualified than I was, but they just applied later than I did. I also heard they’re trying to drastically increase the Hispanic population on campus, so UF has become rather selective in terms of white non- Hispanics.
I think due to this UF's ranking and prestige will rise.
I'm really only going because it's free, and many students who can also get in for free/very cheap hold this same mindset.

drusba... that range was from last year... this change just happened
Yeah constellation, i think you're right... My friends already there have told me how selective it is getting. The Saultarian at a highschool near mine was rejected, and so was a kid with a 1400+ SAT who got ACCEPTED to princeton. weird. and scary with my 1340 SAT and estimated 4.4 GPA, the thing is.... this makes me scared to apply RD. I was planning on Applying to UVA, Vanderbilt, UNCCH, Dartmouth, Stetson (in my home town), and UF... the first 4 in case my father changes his mind about my out-of-state restrictions.... but now, im afraid ill get rejected from UF if i dont do ED!

I really don't know much about UF except the admissions process.
Does anyone know if they're a top research university? Do they have a good biology program?
