Hey,
It looks like I'll be going to SIUC instead of UIUC as I had hoped (got my rejection letter yesterday). I've gotten into CU Boulder, Purdue (but not in my chosen school, engineering), University of Arizona, and Northern Illinois University. Waitlisted at UW Madison.

I'd go out of state to Boulder but I can't affod it unless I get this ROTC scholarship I applied for a few months ago. But I don't think I'll get it, 50/50 maybe, or if I really want to be associated with the military during college.

I'm planning on majoring in civil engineering, and I know Boulder is good for this, but like I said, I probably won't be going there. My only affordable choice without the ROTC scholarship is SIUC. I'm just concerned because their average ACT is 22, I got a 28, I don't know if I can get a decent education there. Should I be worried about this? What I'm thinking is that I'll just work hard to get A's and then maybe try again for UIUC next year, but I might get stuck as SIUC for four years. If they're engineering program is really weak, I'll look into student loans for out of state, because that could pay off inthe long run if I can get a better job.

Also, does anyone know of any other innexpensive (less than $10,000 tuition) I can apply to that have decent engineering programs?

Thanks for any advice/reasssurance anyone can give.

Did you check the Michigan State schools? They offer reciprocity with in state tuition for Illinois if your GPA is over 3.5 I think. Ann Arbor is highly ranked in Engineering.

Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech are around 10,000 for out of state, and I was wondering how you were going to pay for Purdue if you got into engineering if you can't afford out-of-state tuition because Purdue's is over 17,000
