I've narrowed my college choices down to these three, but I can't decide. I really like Rose-Hulman, but I heard that its a low-tier and not widely known college so getting a job won't be as easy as going to GA Tech for undergrad. I've also heard GA Tech doens't care about undergrads since most of them drop out after first year anyway. Auburn and Rose have very nice campuses though and I feel comfortable there. Any suggetsions?

I've heard the opposite about Rose-Hulman... that they have recruiters from big companies flock to the school to hire new grads after graduation. Apparently they have a very high job placement rate, I think. Look into it some more.

Rose-Hulman is recognized as a top notch school for engineering. It's perennially ranked #1 or 2 in USNWR for engineering schools without PhD programs. Recruitment opportunities are great and Rose boasts a 100% job or grad school placement for its grads. Don't think you could go wrong with RH. Don't know much about Auburn's engineering program, but have heard many of the same opinions about GA Tech as you.

wow from what you guys have said, it seems R-H is my #1 choice now, but its expensive. HOpefully after FAFSA ill have the money to go there

there is more to college than academics. have you visited Rose? it is in the middle of nowhere. indiana gets cold in winter. will you be happy not being able to do anything in a very small town? all questions to ask whether you are in performing arts, engineering or other fields.
the thought of going to school in a small town is one aspect that doesn't thrill me but it could be perfect for others.

Rose-Hulman has been ranked as the top engineering school in America without a Ph.D. program for FIVE YEARS IN A ROW by USNWR.

Rose-Hulman has a 100% grad school/job placement rating the last seven years running.

The average starting salary for Rose-Hulman grads is $50,000, with $30,000 as the lowest and $75,000 as the highest.

RHIT grads get into the top graduate schools in America including CalTech, MIT, Stanford and the like.

Pretty impressive, eh?

Rose-Hulman is highly respected nationally in engineering community particularly for training students to be practicing engineers. Georgia Tech is considered a top engineering college and research center, and Auburn's engineering department is also highly respected. In other words, I do not think you have a poor choice to make. Thus, I view the choice as being what atmosphere and cost you actually prefer.

Rose-Hulman: small, 4 to 1 male to female ratio; excellent and beautiful campus and facilities; in an uninteresting small city that is itself surrounded by framland and forest for 40 miles in any direction; small classes with top notch professors; very student-friendly atmosphere and teaching not research is its prime goal. Varsity sports are definitely secondary. Most expensive of the three, even if you are out-of-state for the other two, although it does give some scholarship aid to almost 65% of the students. Winters are cold (unlike the other two).

Georgia Tech: quite large, also 4 to 1 male to female ratio, large classes and generally impersonal -- you are just one amongst a large crowd whom the professor does not know and often doesn't want to; still follows a weed-out philosophy of teaching by making freshman classes very hard to weed-out those whom may have doubts about being engineers;however, those who stay get a great education; most likely of the three to run into a professor who has a real struggle with the English language; location is a matter of view -- some consider it as being in a not so great area of the city but many view it as a great location right near downtown Atlanta giving access to lots to do outside of campus; campus asthetics also get mixed reviews although it is really quite nice if you actually go and see it. Fairly reasonable cost even for out-of-state.

Auburn: if you ever had a dream about what a true southern college should look, feel and be like, Auburn is it. Campus and facilities are beautiful and lay-out (like a big square) makes it easy to navigate. The town came after the university and is highly suppotive of the college and its students. Though very large, profs and aministration try very hard to interact with students and make you feel you are more than a number. Male to female ratio is even because engineering and science are just a small part of everything else. Southern charm oozes in this place and being friendly and having school spirit are the rule and not the exception. Varsity sports are a way of life. Price is very reasonable even for out-of-state.

I live in the south, so i'm definately used to hotness. I'd definately prefer a smaller atmosphere that i could know everyone. What everyone says is great and as helpful as actually visiting those places :). Auburn sounds so perfect, like the ideal college also. My visit to Auburn was the most positive atmopshere out of the colleges I've visited. I'll have to travel to Rose-Hulman and see how it really is :)
