Please help me out! I have been accepted into two excellent engineering programs. From an academic standpoint, I was wondering your thoughts on which was better, but I would also like to know your thoughts about the social scene as well... I am from Long Island and I like to have a lot going on. Financially, I have not recieved aid from Cornell as of this date but I estimate they will give me about 14000, whereas RPI gave me 23000. I do not know that much about Cornell's engineering program, but I am going to visit this Thursday. I was extremely impressed with the innovative class structures that I saw at Rensselaer. Thanks for your input.

One advantage of Cornell is that it has stronger non-technical options if you decide to change majors or double-major. Although I suspect in technical circles RPI is as well respected at Cornell, the latter will have somewhat higher name recognition overall.
