I was just wondering what college is like over there. Is the admissions process similar to the ones in the US? How competitive are they to get into? How expensive? I heard you can go straight to med school there w/o an undergrad degree, is it true? Why do so many Indias come to America to study?

well...i dont live in India but know something about them. and all i can say is that they are way too different from those in the US. From a non academic point of view, they r just a continuation of high school except you dont have uniforms anymore. And the " University" term doesnt apply to most of the colleges over there. Most of them dont have 10000 undergrads living in the college and nor do they have 1000 acres long campuses.
and all that matters for admission is academics and nothing else

Most Indians come to the US mainly to get a better education. Even more, "studying" or "living" in the USA just adds another dimension. For ages, studying "abroad" has been viewed as something rich and noble. Studying abroad for most people over there is just like studying at Harvard for people over here. And what pride parents feel when they say " my son/daughter has gone to study in the USA"
