Ok, here is the deal. I am looking for a school that:

1) is in an urban setting,

2) has a solid national (or northeastern) reputation, and

3) is not too difficult to transfer into*

Please don't offer a lot of suggestions. I am looking for one or two schools you think might fit me. Those three (above) are in order of importance. Thank you in advance... I know you guys can help.

*1310 SAT

What about Boston University? You should also look at Fordham, in NY. (I''m not sure about how much school spirit either has, though)

NYU does not have much school pride (from what i hear). However, it is a great school with a good reputation (once more, from what i hear).

Check out George Washington University in Washington, D.C. It's really right smack in the middle of the city, and its middle SAT range is 1150-1320, so you'll definately get in. Unfortunately, it's 80% male...I don't know how important that is to you. "The Insider's Guide to the Colleges" says that political activism is popular, but also that there's a lot of drinking. However, it also says that the main reason most students go there is because of its location, so you might want to take a look at it.

thanks Lysistrinita... Isn't GW very involved in government fields? I am sort of interested in business/economics.

The second largest major there is business management. But yeah, it is very politically active, and the book didn't mention a lot about its school spirit, other than the fact that the school doesn't "officially recognize" contact sports like football.

You also might want to check out Georgia Institute of Technology. It shouldn't be too hard for you to get in (its middle 50% SAT range is 1250-1420), and it has a LOT of school spirit. The three most popular majors are engineering, business management, and computer science, and it's located right smack dab in the middle of Atlanta. Again, however, there are a whole lot more guys than girls (71% versus 29%).

I'll let you know if I find any others.

Just thought I would add, glancing at this, that that middle SAT range for Georgia Tech is deceptive if you're out of state because it's public...

if you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
