I am a sophomore in high school in Louisville Kentucky and I have just recently began looking for colleges. I have always wanted to be an engineer and I am pretty sure I have narrowed it down to an aerospace engineer. I need help finding the right college to attend. Any information on the topic will be greatly appreciated.

You need to think about some characteristics of schools, so that you can come up with some names of schools that are a good "fit" for you. Geography--do you want to stay somewhat close to home, or are you looking for a whole new place, a big city or a college town? Cost is a factor for most folks also, do you know what sort of financial support you may have? It could be helpful if you can visit some nearby schools, even if you have no interest in attending them, just to get a feel for different sorts of campuses: I assume UK is pretty big, U of Louisville a smaller private school, Transylvania much smaller, Berea in a somewhat isolated area. Take a road trip up to Ohio State, take a tour of their engineering dept.
You're off to a good start by thinking about this now!

Thank you but unfortuanetly there are no aerospace programs available in Kentucky. I heard that Illinois is a great aero school as well as some in Tenn. I would like to stay in this general area, especially considering I have family that lives in Tenn. Also the south has a Academic Common Market which is where you can go to their schools for in state tuition even if you live out of state. The schools are:
University of Alabama at Huntsville
Auburn University
Mississippi State University
University of Alabama
University of Maryland at College Park
University of Tennessee at Knoxville
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech)
West Virginia University
If anyone knows any info about these, it would be greatly appreciated.

U of I does have a good aerospace engineering department, and they even have a week-long camp for high schoolers in the summer. Go to

Thats great, except the camp was for the 2003 year, it is now 2004, do you know if they offer any more camps this year?

It's a little early for 2004 camps. Revisit the main UIUC site during January and you should be able to get more information. In the meantime, you might like perusing this page:

Embry Riddle is the best aviation school in the country. I couldn't afford it but I am applying to UIUC for aeronautical engineering, if I get in.
If not I'm trying for a pre-engineering program so I can get used to engineering since I have little experience

Purdue is excellent. As is Ohio State. Know a kid in such a program at Ohio U and he is getting all kinds of aid with not so terrific profile.

Antwan: If you are hardcore aeronautical look at Georgia Tech and its co-op opportunities with Lockheed.

How about Middle Tennessee State, I have had several people say good things about it?

McGill University (Montreal Canada)
UCIC (IL)
Penn State (PA)
Pittsburgh (PA)
Boston University (MA)

I am an undergraduate looking at some Aerospace engineering schools. Would someone tell me what you think about the following schools: University of Central Florida, Suny at Buffalo, University of Texas at Arlington, and Tuskegee University.

Since your from Louisville you may want to consider Purdue, it's just straight up I-65. It was ranked 6th for aerospace engineering. Plus employers hiring engineers like to see Purdue on applications. You may also want to think about whether you are more interested in Aeronautics or Astronautics. More Astronauts have come from Purdue than any other school, including Neil Armstrong.
