right now my big prospects are NYU, USC, and Emerson. are there any schools that are pretty renowned or have good reputations in the music industry/recording field?

The Berklee College of Music has one of the best programs around. Ithaca College and Oberlin also have good music recording/industry programs.

Here's a link that lists other schools:

Second to none in the UK (and arguably the US) is LIPA - Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.

We do a three year BA (Hons) Sound Technology programme. Our facilities are amongst the best in the country. Coupled with this we do several other programmes related to the performing arts economy, so your pool of people to work with is huge.

Check out our website www.lipa.ac.uk for more details.

Check out if we're coming to a place near you in the fall at:
http://www.nacac.com/exhibit/fair2.cfm

Or, if your enquiry is a genuine one you can contact me personally at c.cullen@lipa.ac.uk

Good luck with your college search, maybe we're the right one for you.

Cath
