I keep hearing that George Washington University is a good school but that I "shouldn't apply there--especially once you've heard the horror stories."
WHAT horror stories?!

I don't know, but I know a family friend who is there & absolutely loves it, so I guess not everyone experiences horror stories. But I would also like to hear what's wrong w/it, cos it's on my college list.

The main two complaints that I have heard are that many students do not blend well with the urban environment, and the administration is known for red tape and nickel-and-diming students for everything -- if you read the student newspaper, you'll see that almost no one is happy with the fiscal management of the school.

There's nothing "wrong" with GW, it's just different and suffers by comparison to Georgetown. It's right in the city, not very attractive, lots of business majors. It doesn't have a strong campus atmosphere or presence. Academically it's 2nd or 3rd tier. BUT it is in a great city with lots of opportunities.
