I've recently received "likely letters" from both Harvard and Yale. As thrilled as I am about these two great schools, I'm now faced with the task of choosing between them. What should I do? For some info that may be helpful, I live in Westchester, just 20 minutes outside of Manhattan, enjoy film and music and am English-oriented, with a dislike for math and science. Any help would be appreciated.

Both are great schools, but I'd pick Cambridge over New Haven any day...

I've got a mixed view, Tim. Cambridge has the edge for quality of life, IMO, but Yale has a better quality of undergraduate education (also JUST my opinion). I'm assuming that you've visited both campuses and talked with random students (not just the ringers thrust forward by the admissions offices).
Is money an issue? If so, then your aid packages might very well tell the tale then.

Congrats on the likely letters, Tim. If you haven't done overnight visits, maybe you could cram them in before May 1. I assume both schools have "prospective" weekends to which accepted students are invited. Assuming your acceptances come through as expected, Tim, I'd HIGHLY recommend taking advantage of these. They are a great way to meet your fellow acceptees as well as plenty of current students, and the schools usually go all out to create a good experience. (After all, they've got to keep the yield numbers up there!) Good luck!

Nice guess, flowerence! Are athletes the most common recipients of likely letters?
