I just spent the past Sunday/Monday at CMU and it was amazing. The campus is great. While it is in the heart of a city you could not tell from looking around. Just green grass and the school. Stayed in New House which was a typical sized room for 2 but from what I have heard all the others are bigger. My host was a freaking genius. He taught himself German and is fluent in it and also learned how to program from self teaching since 6th grade. I was able to meet the guys in his fraternity and they were extremely friendly and were eager to answer any questions I had. Got to watch a movie entitled "The Last Unicorn" for a dollar (something they do in the University Center everyweek). While it looks like a kiddy movie definately worth checking out. After that hung out and played some foozball and airhockey. In the morning I skipped some of the classes I could have gone to and went to breakfast. I met up with my host later and went to a programming recitation though I wasn't really supposed to. This was really surprising. Many more s than guys in here, only 10 students, and the recitation was conducted by a professor who was very helpful and seemed to enjoy teching. I did the same thing at Georgia Tech a while ago and while the one at CMU was less organized, there was nothing I didn't like at CMU. Did anyone else make it up there for this over the weekend?

I am considering going to the University of Pittsburgh. From what I have seen it seems like a beautiful city; one that you could live in even if you do not like cities at all (me). What did you think of Pitt? Was there lots to do?Was it too urban?Did the CMU students seem to interact w/ students from the nearby colleges or did they stick to themselves. Thanks a lot.

I went and visited Pitt this past Saturday. The campus is in a quieter part of Pittsburgh and doesn't really seem like it's in a real urban environment, which is nice. Right around Pitt's campus are all the Carnegie musuems, a huge park, and then downtown is only a couple of miles away.

I was also at CMU over the weekend. I enjoyed staying over at a college. I went to a French class and loved being able to participate. My hosts were great, all freshman living in Mudge. I was amazed at how helpful and kind the student body as a whole was. I'm sure where I'll go but CMU is definitely in the top 5.

CMU is a GREAT PLACE. My son is in his first year there and he loves it. He is very happy and the school is a great fit for him.
