I am doing National Honor Society and I am wondering does it carry any weight? Is it worth anything at all or should I stop doing it? Help me out here please.

NHS will not help you get into a good college. However, NOT being in NHS (if it's offered at your school) is VERY likely to hurt you. Stay in it.

Actually, I heard the opposite. I heard not being in NHS is not a big deal... as long as you have good grades, SATs, activities, no behavior problems, the colleges don't care. I don't know how valid this idea is, though.

It's not a big deal being in NHS--pretty much everybody applying to competitive schools is in it. However, I think that if you are NOT in NHS then the adcoms will wonder why.
